About Pearl Girls™

Dear Reader,

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Pearl Girls website. This project is a real passion of mine. You probably know the story of the oyster which got a piece of grit stuck inside its shell until nacre coats it and turns it into a pearl. Like the oyster, women get grit stuck inside our lives, too. Right? Sometimes that grit can be a small irritant, but other times it feels like a boulder! Yet God’s nacre of love and grace covers our pain and turns us into Pearl Girls.

Connecting Hearts and Souls to Impact the World.  That’s the mission statement for Pearl Girls. We connect for a purpose that includes honoring God (a soul connection) and encouraging each other through the difficult times (a heart connection). We also connect by making a tangible difference in the world (a collaborative connection).  Just think about how beautiful a pearl necklace looks. It’s about connecting.

So what does that mean for you? You can become one of the Pearl Girls. Please sign up for the newsletter (in the bottom gray box to the left).   Share your own story of grit and grace on the Pearl Girls blog. Email my assistant Amy (amy@pearlgirls.info) if you’re interested in guest blogging. The story you post will encourage others, and you will be inspired by the other stories you read on the blog and in the book, Pearl Girls Encountering Grit Experiencing Grace. These life experiences are Pearl Parables.

And let’s connect for a greater purpose – to impact the world. All of my advances and royalties from this Pearl Girls book go to two charities:

Wings

WINGS (Women in Need Growing Stronger)
This wonderful charity provides shelter in a Safe House for women and children who are fleeing from domestic violence in the Chicago suburbs.  In addition, the organization offers transitional housing and job training to help a woman get a second chance in life. It costs $50 to provide a night of shelter in the WINGS Safe House. As a member of the Leadership Advisory Board for WINGS, I have met several of the women who needed a safe place to stay. They are so grateful for the Safe House and for the fresh start that WINGS provides. Already, Pearl Girls has helped provide over 15,000 nights of safety from our proceeds. Let’s provide even more safe nights in the Safe House. Together we can do this!

Hands of Hope
This great organization is helping women and children in Africa. The proceeds from the Pearl Girls book will go directly to help build wells for school children in Uganda. Right now, Hands of Hope is trying to help build fifty wells at fifty schools in Uganda. Can you imagine a child being at school all day and not having
clean water to drink? There aren’t any water fountains in the hallway – only a cup of water from a stagnant puddle full of parasites or from a water source that carries disease.  It costs $12,000 to build one well. Pearl Girls has already provided a quarter of a well from the proceeds. Let’s try to finish building that well and even another one after that. Together we can do this!

Grit and Grace. That’s what it’s all about. Thanks again for helping to make a difference in the lives of women and children we may never meet. I want to hear from you. Please contact me through the Pearl Girls website.

Get connected. Tell a friend. Be encouraged.

God bless,

Margaret
